DVIR 2.0 is the updated version of Samsara's Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs). It makes inspections faster, easier and more reliable with AI-assisted data capture to reduce manual effort, enhanced customizable templates for various vehicle types and workflows, and a centralized dashboard to simplify tracking and managing inspection quality. DVIR 2.0 replaces the legacy DVIR system, with full backwards compatibility.

While DVIR 2.0 supports all core FMCSA compliance features, some advanced features are currently only supported by legacy DVIR. Fleets dependent on the following features should continue to use legacy DVIRs until these features are available in DVIR 2.0:

During beta, fleets run DVIR 2.0 alongside legacy Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs). You can choose which dashboards and app users have access to the new DVIR experience through Settings ( ) > Feature Management in the following ways:

Driver access control: You can enable DVIR 2.0 for your entire organization, or individual drivers or tags in Feature Management through DVIR 2.0: Driver Access > add specific drivers.

In the Samsara Driver App version 2532+: Drivers with DVIR 2.0 access the beta in the DVIR tile, which leads them to a new experience.

In older versions of Samsara Driver App: Drivers with access to DVIR 2.0 will see two tiles side by side in the app. The [Beta] DVIR tile leads them to the new beta experience, and the DVIR tile leads them to the legacy experience.

Dashboard access control: In the dashboard, DVIR 2.0 exists in Maintenance as [Beta] DVIR. You can enable access to [Beta] DVIR in the dashboard for your entire organization, or specific users or tags in in Feature Management through DVIR 2.0: Dashboard Access > add specific users.
