Install the VG:
-
Ensure a Samsara VG is already connected to the vehicle.
If a gateway is not already connected, install a gateway according to the vehicle-specific gateway power cable installation instructions.
-
Locate the reefer control panel that is usually located on the dashboard.
-
Disconnect the reefer cable from the control panel.
-
Connect the Samsara cable (A) to the reefer cable and (B) to the control panel.
-
Connect the USB on Samsara cable to the gateway. Access the accessory device port by removing and properly discarding one of the port covers.
-
Using the narrow cable ties included in the VG box, secure the power cable and any accessory device cables.
Note
Using the wide cable ties which come with the diagnostics cable is not recommended as they may cause interference with the cable connections.
Avoid wrapping the power and device cables around the gateway. Avoid tight bends in the cables.
-
Mount the control panel back onto the vehicle dashboard.
