A priority for Samsara is to ensure users can experience our products over the internet from any supported location and device. Each device on the internet requires a unique internet protocol (IP) address to connect and access the internet, similar to how each phone has its own unique phone number to receive calls and texts. Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth version of the internet protocol, and it routes most internet traffic today. However, there is a gradual transition to internet protocol version 6 (IPv6), the next version of internet protocol.
Samsara currently provides direct support for IPv4. If you need support for IPv6, you can apply conventional IPv6 to IPv4 translation technologies (such as base 64 proxies or DNS64 and NAT64) commonly used by customers and network solution providers.
At at this time, there are no current plans to de-prioritize IPv4 in any Samsara features or services.
