For hardware-free reefer monitoring and remote control, you can connect eligible Carrier refrigeration systems to the Samsara dashboard using an API-based integration.
The Carrier Lynx integration includes the following features:

Single platform for real-time visibility, cold-chain monitoring, and streamlined compliance

Complete visibility and control over trailer and reefer environments, load loss avoidance, and real-time alerts when temperatures go out of range

View current and historical reefer data to streamline operations

Contact your Samsara sales representative to start the enrollment process.
A local Carrier dealer will verify eligibility of existing equipment, activate Lynx subscriptions, and if needed, install retrofits required to enable telematics functionality. After equipment has been verified and Lynx subscriptions activated for this integration, the local Carrier Dealer will issue API credential information (Client ID, Client Secret, API Key).

Install the Carrier application on Samsara.

Navigate to Settings > Apps > Available Apps and search for Carrier.

Enter the credentials provided by Carrier.
Devices can take up to 30 minutes to update initially. If devices do not show up within an hour, contact Samsara support.

After the application is installed, navigate to the Carrier application under the Enabled Apps tab and select Manage.

Select the reefer units you want to activate and then click Activate.
Batch activation is also available to select multiple units at a time.

Navigate to the main Samsara dashboard to view your newly added reefers.
Pair and View Carrier Lynx Reefer Data with Samsara AG/VG Data on a Single Asset within the Samsara Dashboard
You can see all your reefer data from Carrier Lynx and Samsara hardware in one place in a single asset view on the Assets list (Overview ( ) > Assets). This enables you to view real-time location, trip history, and reefer insights such as temperature, fuel levels, and alarm codes in one place, which improves operational visibility.
To pair an asset gateway (AG) or vehicle gateway (VG) to a Carrier Lynx API-enabled asset so it is viewable as a single asset on the Assets list, perform the following workflow:

Access the reefer Carrier Lynx API-enabled reefer asset through the Lynx app.

Next to the active asset, select the three-dot menu.

Click Pair with Asset.

Select the correct AG or VG gateway you'd like to pair with the Carrier Lynx API-enabled asset from the Pair with Asset prompt.

Click Pair Asset to complete the pairing.
After pairing, a confirmation message displays confirming the Carrier Lynx and AG/VG asset have successfully linked. Refresh your screen to see the updated, paired asset.
The Carrier Lynx-only asset is now hidden from the Assets list view once paired, so only the paired asset will display going forward. Select the paired asset on the Assets list to view additional information such as real-time location data, trip history, reefer information, and other asset health data.
Additional reporting functionality for these paired reefers is also available on the Samsara dashboard in the dormancy reports, utilization reports, and detention reports.
You can also access the combined asset by clicking on it directly from the Lynx app.
If you need to unpair an AG/VG from a Carrier Lynx API-enabled asset for any reason, perform the following workflow:

Access the reefer Carrier Lynx API-enabled reefer asset through the Lynx app.

Next to the active asset, select the three-dot menu.

Select Unpair Asset.
Once unpaired, a confirmation message displays, and when you refresh you screen, the once paired asset displays on the Assets list as the two original, separate assets (the Carrier Lynx API-enabled only asset, and the AG or VG asset).

Yes, this integration requires customers to maintain two separate product subscriptions; one with Carrier Lynx and another with Samsara.
Carrier sends data at different intervals depending on the type of data and user action. For example, location and temperature data is updated every five minutes while reefer alarms are transmitted as they occur.
Contact your local Carrier dealer for information on hardware retrofits of existing systems.
