Samsara supports integration with RexRoth spreader controllers.

Acquire the corresponding adapter for your RexRoth cable model.
Two cable options are available. For each option you need to require a specific male to male serial adapter. You can find the serial number of the RexRoth Telematics cable. Follow the guidelines for your specific cable model:

R987400008: (recommended) Use a null adapter orange male to male serial adapter to connect the Samsara cable to the Female side of the RexRoth Telematics Cable.

R987376776: Use a straight through yellow male to male serial adapter to connect the Samsara cable to the female side of the RexRoth Telematics Cable. The adapter is not provided with the Samsara RS232 cable and should be purchased separately.

Samsara requires the following configuration:

Ensure you have the correct RexRoth Telematics cable and adapter.
The telematics cable plugs in the AUX port on the bottom left of the Display Unit. If there isn’t a cable there, contact your RexRoth dealer to purchase one of the following RexRoth models:

Connect the Samsara Spreader cable to the RexRoth Telematics cable.

Cable serial number R987400008: Use a null adapter orange male to male serial adapter to connect the Samsara cable to the female side of the RexRoth Telematics cable. The other side of the Samsara cable plugs into the Samsara GPS unit.

Cable serial number R987376776: Use a straight through yellow male to male serial adapter to connect the Samsara cable to the female side of the RexRoth Telematics cable. The other side of the Samsara cable plugs into the Samsara GPS unit.

Configure the spreader.

Use the USB configuration key to open the RexRoth Configuration menu from the settings (gear icon) on the upper right-hand corner of the display.

Verify that the Active Vehicle Locating Interface (AVL) is enabled in the RexRoth controller’s settings.
To access the settings, click the yellow Lock in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Then verify that the avl option is enabled. This ensures the data the Vehicle Gateway can read the data streaming out of the controller.
After the Vehicle Gateway is connected, the letters AVL will display overlaying the icon on the top right.

Verify that Samsara is receiving the spreader data.

Turn on the vehicle and turn the spreader controller dial to any amount.

From the Overview page on your Samsara dashboard, search for and then select the vehicle in the list that you want to test.

From the Graph Data drop down, select Spreader and ensure the date selector is set to display data for Today.
The graph should display material data reported by your spreader controller.

Enable AVL interface.
By default, the RexRoth GPS setting is enabled. To change the AVL interface:

Use the USB configuration key to open the RexRoth Configuration menu from the settings (gear icon) on the upper right-hand corner of the display.

Verify that IOT Tracking is enabled in the RexRoth controller’s settings.
To access the settings, click the yellow Lock in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You will have to scroll down the left column to find this setting. Then verify that the avl option is enabled. This ensures the data the Vehicle Gateway can read the data streaming out of the controller.
After the Vehicle Gateway is connected, the letters AVL will display overlaying the icon on the top right.

Exit Settings to save changes.

Connect the Samsara RS323 cable to the Samsara gateway and the Rexroth Serial Cable.

Turn on the vehicle and restart the Spreader Control Unit.
The IOT symbol should appear on the home screen.
