Use this workflow when installing a Vehicle Gateway (VG) and mounting a Samsara Camera (CM) in a vehicle operated by a private hire company in London.

[en] Use the following workflow to install the VG and mount the CM to meet TfL requirements.

[en] Locate a passenger-side mounting location suitable for securing the mounting bracket and completing a hardwired installation.
Tipp
[en] When choosing a location, do not obstruct access to the fuse box or interfere with airbag components.

[en] Secure the VG mounting bracket using at least two screws on a non-structural metal surface, such as behind the glove box area.

[en] Hardwire the Samsara non-diagnostic power cable using a piggyback fuse tap:
-
[en] Connect the red wire (positive) to permanent power using a piggyback fuse tap in an empty fuse slot.

[en] Connect the black wire (negative) to the body of the vehicle as the ground.

[en] Snap the VG into the mounting bracket. Confirm the VG is mounted upright, with the logo facing up.

[en] Connect the non-diagnostic power cable to the VG. Allow several minutes for initialization until the indicator light turns green.

[en] Install the camera, then position it according to the UK mounting recommendations.
[en] After installation, complete the following required configuration steps in the Samsara-DashboardSamsara dashboard:

[en] Confirm dashboard region (EU)
[en] Verify that your organization’s Samsara-DashboardSamsara dashboard is using the EU cloud. The dashboard URL should begin with cloud.eu.samsara.com.

[en] Configure camera data retention
[en] Set dash cam image and video retention to Keep dash cam image and video data for 28 days. Contact Samsara Support to enable or modify this setting.

[en] Disable audio recording (CM32 only)
[en] Audio recording must be turned off for CM32 dash cams.
