[en] You can view idling by All Events, Drivers, or Vehicles.
[en] The Air Temperature filter enables you to view the ambient air temperature recorded by onboard sensors in a vehicle. Temperatures can range from -20°C to 50°C (or -4°F to 122°F) and is the average of up to first five readings of each idling event. You can also select an option to Only show unproductive idling, based on rules you set for unproductive idling air temperature.
[en] You can also access additional filters for geofences, idle duration, and PTO status through More Filters. If you toggle on Only show unproductive idling within More Filters, it will only display report results based on your Unproductive Idling Rules.
[en] All Events includes the following key metrics at the top of the report:
-
[en] Total Idle Time for your fleet
-
[en] Idling By Temperature so you can see at a glance what percent of the time your fleet spends in moderate or extreme temperatures
-
[en] Idle Cost based on Samsara fuel cost estimates, including data from third parties. For more information on how Samsara estimates fuel cost, see Informe sobre combustible y energía.
[en] In the Drivers section, you can check aggregate idling metrics by driver over a selected time period.
[en] If you select a driver, an individual driver's heat map is displayed, which includes details of their individual idling events. The individual driver heat map is only available for drivers assigned to vehicles.
[en] In addition to the new interface, Driver Assignment now uses the Driver Assignment service for idling instead of the previous logic that split driver assignments outside of trips. This update displays the assigned driver at the time of the idling event. Since the Idling Report logic for Driver Assignment changed, it will not be in sync with driver assignments in the Fuel & Energy Report or Driver Efficiency Report. Retroactive driver assignment changes will not be updated.
[en] In the Vehicles section, you can check aggregate idling metrics by vehicle over a selected time period.
[en] If you select a vehicle, the heat map of an individual vehicle is displayed, which includes idling event details.
[en] At the bottom of the report is a detailed table of idling events. Dependent on your report view (All Events, Drivers, or Vehicles), the following information is available for each idling event:

[en] While it is important to monitor and reduce idling to reduce fuel spend, not all idling is unproductive idling and even within unproductive idling, some idling is worse than others.
[en] You can now set up Unproductive Idling Rules within Idling in the Fuel & Energy Settings (Settings ( ) > Fleet > Fuel & Energy). These settings enable you to customize the Only show unproductive idling filter in the Idling Report to match your definition of idling inefficiencies.
[en] Unproductive idling rules can be based on:
-
[en] Idling event minimum durations to exclude short idling events based on a custom threshold. For example, if you set the minimum duration to 5 minutes, the filter excludes all idling that is less than 5 minutes.
-
[en] Air temperature range to exclude events at extreme low or high temperatures, as drivers are allowed to idle to use A/C and heat.
-
[en] PTO status to exclude idling events when PTO is active.
[en] When saved, the unproductive idling rules are then enabled within the Idling Report and in the corresponding idling widgets in the Centro de combustible y energía.
[en] Within Alerts ( ), you can also create an idling alert with the Engine Idle alert trigger, with additional conditions to target or ignore specific events, such as when the air temperature is within a a selected range, or when the vehicle has power takeoff (PTO) engaged. This ensures that you will only be notified by idling that you consider unproductive.
