When needed, you can download and share video clips for further analysis or archival purposes.
From the Samsara dashboard, you can download a clip in MP4 format for long-term storage and archival purposes. When you download a clip, the Site Gateway uploads the footage to your Sites video library.

-
Open a camera stream using one of the following methods:
-
From a quick view, click a stream for a camera.
-
From Streaming, select the row for a camera.
-
From Streaming > Views, select the view, and then a camera stream.
-
From Sites, select a site, and then a camera.
-
-
Beneath the activity timeline, drag and select a time frame for the clip you want to export.
Note
It is recommended to select a time frame no greater than 60 minutes. Clips that are larger in length can take longer to download based on the camera resolution and upload bandwidth of the Site Gateway.
-
Select Download to initiate retrieval for the video clip.
To monitor the progress, view the status notification in the bottom right.
This download status remains visible as you navigate throughout the dashboard unless otherwise dismissed. If you dismiss the notification or close the browser, you can return to the Library > Requests to view the status of any pending download requests.
-
Save the file when the clip is ready.
If you left your browser open, the download dialog displays when the clip is ready to download. Samsara also sends an email notification when the clip is ready.
If you opted to later return to the Samsara dashboard, you can find the clip in on the Saved tab of the video Library. To save the video, click the more actions menu ( ... ) on the top right of the clip and then select Download.
-
For longer video downloads, repeat the process for the next clip up to 60 minutes in length.
-
Open a camera stream using one of the following methods:
-
From a quick view, click a stream for a camera.
-
From Streaming, select the row for a camera.
-
From Streaming > Views, select the view, and then a camera stream.
-
From Sites, select a site, and then a camera.
-
-
To share the current position or a link to the live feed, click the share icon in the bottom right.
To select a specific clip, you can also drag and select the time frame beneath the activity timeline.
-
Select Copy share link to save the link to the clipboard.
-
You can then paste the link into a browser or email to another Samsara administrator that has access to Connected Sites and the camera stream.
