This topic describes the two VG54 models available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Vehicle Gateway install requirements and steps are dependent on the model of your Vehicle Gateway.

All new orders for Vehicle Gateways will be fulfilled with VG54-NAs and VG54-NAHs depending on your vehicle type and model depending on the Country:

• US: Started shipping VG54-NA & VG54-NAH on December 6th, 2021
• Canada: Started shipping VG54-NA & VG54-NAH on May 16, 2022
• Mexico: Started shipping VG54-NA on December 6th, 2021. Will also begin shipping VG54-NAH on August 1, 2022.

VG54-NA vs. VG54-NAH FAQ

How can I know which VG54 devices and cables should be installed in a particular vehicle?
Samsara will provide all customers getting a mix of VG54 and VG54-NAH with a Vehicle Identification spreadsheet to easily match up vehicles with the correct VGs for install. Our Samsara Fleet App will guide installers to ensure you are installing a specific device on a compatible vehicle.

What happens if I incorrectly put a VG54-NA into a vehicle that should be installed with a VG54-NAH?
The VG54-NAH will act identically to the VG54-NA when installed into any vehicle. Some non-Heavy and Medium Duty vehicles will not receive all diagnostics that we support through the VG54-NA, but there is no risk to the driver or vehicle safety from an improper installation.
