The Advanced Custom Report template for Tractor-Trailer Power Diagnostic Report helps identify trucks that repeatedly fail to supply power to different trailers they tow. When power is disrupted, it can impact critical safety systems like trailer anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and hampers real-time location tracking. By surfacing patterns across multiple trailers, the report helps isolate the root cause of issues that lead to recurring trailer power loss so you can plan targeted maintenance for tractors in your fleet, improve tractor reliability, and avoid downstream operational or safety risks.

Each row in the Tractor-Trailer Power Diagnostic Report template represents a tractor. The following columns display power-related performance metrics that help you find patterns of recurring trailer power loss:
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
Tractor name. |
URL |
Samsara dashboard link to the tractor details |
Total Trips (15+ mins) |
Total number of trips over 15 minutes conducted within the specified time frame. Total trips is over 15 minutes to reduce noise from short trips. |
% Trips with power loss |
Percentage of trips during which trailer power was lost. |
Distinct trailers that linked to vehicle during trips |
Total number of unique trailers the tractor towed during the specified time frame. |
Distinct pulled trailers that had power loss |
Total number of unique trailers that lost power while connected to the tractor during the specified time frame. |
% Trailers that had power loss |
Percentage of affected trailers, calculated as a ratio of unique trailers with power loss to total unique trailers towed. |
This template is designed to surface patterns that indicate systemic tractor-side faults, such as a blown fuse or damaged power connector. Since power loss alerts alone don't reveal the root cause, this report helps maintenance teams take a more targeted approach.
You can Filter, Sort, and Group By Custom Report Fields to define what qualifies as repeated failure. For example, you can focus on tractors that pulled more than five trailers within a given time range (for example, last 30 days) and failed to provide power to at least four of them in 90% of trips.
You can also Schedule a Report to be sent at designated times, so you can manage your operations and tasks more efficiently.
