As part of your driver safety program, you can review driver speeds as they relate to specific trips. If speeding is permitted, such as speeding associated with ambulances or police vehicles, or if you suspect Samsara has recorded an incorrect value, you can dismiss or excuse speeding events to omit the event from the driver safety score.
Dismissed speeding events will remain in the Safety Dashboard; however, the event does not impact the driver safety score.
To review and excuse a driver from a speeding event:
Select the vehicle from the fleet Overview ( ).
Use the date selector to modify the date range (up to 30 days).
Expand the vehicle Trip History.
Select an individual trip.
From Graph Data, select Speed to display the speed graph for the selected trip.
If necessary, zoom into the portion of the trip during which the speeding occurred.
Select Excuse Speeding from the speed graph.
Click and drag the cursor to select the speeding interval from the speeding graph.
The selected segment highlights on the map only. The segment does not highlight on the speed graph.
Click Apply Changes to save the excused speeding event.
To exit without saving the excused speeding, select the Excuse Speeding button again.
After the speeding event is excused, Samsara underlines the segment on the speed graph in light blue to visually indicate the speeding has been excused for that period.
