To streamline your Safety Inbox and coaching workflows, you can automatically populate events in the coaching queue without requiring a manual review or triage step. To automatically add events with assigned drivers to Coaching, you must first select the events you want to appear on the Coaching page and with Needs Coaching status.
We recommend that you set up automatic Needs Coaching for the following harsh event types: Crashes, Harsh Brake, Harsh Accel, Harsh Turn, Following Distance, and Distracted Driving.
Events without drivers assigned but with Needs Coaching status will populate in the All folder and the Unassigned folder of the Safety Inbox. To enter these events into the coaching workflow, you must manually assign a driver or edit the trip details to assign the associated route to the driver.
To configure specific safety events to automatically assign as Needs Coaching:
Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
Within Fleet, select Safety > Coaching.
Enable the setting to Automatically Add to Coaching.
+ ADD the event types you want to automatically move to the Coaching queue.
When a new harsh event is detected that matches the event types you configured for automatic coaching, the events automatically populate in the All folder of your Safety Inbox and on the Coaching page (if the driver is assigned).
While a trip is in progress, Samsara displays events as Needs Review. Events populate as Needs Coaching only after the trip is complete.
