Check the status of the light on the front of the gateway
If the light is off:
Check that the gateway is connected to the vehicle, and that the vehicle has power.
Check the fuse associated with the diagnostics port.
Try the gateway in a different vehicle with a different cable. If the light changes to orange, continue with the next step. If not, exchange the device.
Try the gateway in the original vehicle with a different cable. If the light changes to orange, contact support to exchange the original cable. If not, refer to the vehicle maintenance manual for troubleshooting power supply to the diagnostics port.
If the light is solid orange:
Unplug the gateway and wait for the light to go out completely. This should take approximately 5 minutes.
Plug the gateway back in. If the solid orange light returns and then transitions to blinking orange within 2 minutes, check the status of the light on the front of the gateway again and follow the steps for the corresponding light pattern. If not, exchange the device.
If the light is blinking orange:
Wait 2 minutes. Is the light still blinking orange?
Reposition to an area of better AT&T cellular coverage.
If the light is still blinking orange after repositioning, does a gateway in another vehicle in the same location show a solid green light? If so, exchange the device. If not, contact support to investigate cellular coverage for your area of operation.
If the device is showing two short green flashes, one short green flash, or one short orange:
The gateway is in a power-conservation mode. Start the vehicle, or shake the gateway to prompt it to return to full power mode.
Check the status of the light on the front of the gateway again and follow the steps above for the corresponding light pattern.
If the device is green: The gateway is powered on and connected to the network. Check the Samsara Cloud dashboard to ensure that it is reporting location correctly.
