Harsh Event

Alert for harsh vehicle events.

To set a Harsh Event alert, apply the alert to one or more events: Harsh Acceleration, Harsh Brake, Crash, Harsh Turn, Rolling Stop, Inattentive Driving, Unsafe Following Distance, or Mobile Usage.

Policy Violations

Alert for driver or vehicle policy violations.

To set a Policy Violations alert, select the Policy Violation alert category and select the policy violation conditions for which you want to raise an alert (for example No Mask, No Seat Belt, or Camera Obstruction).

Vehicle Speed

Alert for speed-based conditions.

To set a Vehicle Speed alert, specify either:

Camera Connector Disconnected

Alert for camera connectivity.

To reduce any false positives, the alert will trigger after 60 minutes of disconnection. The alert monitors the following connections:

Cell Signal Loss

Dash Cam Disconnected

Duration-based alert for dash cam connectivity. The duration is not configurable and varies by camera model:

Device Battery Level

Alert for device volts falling below threshold so you that can proactively address impending battery replacement.

To set a Device Battery Level alert, select the device alert type (gateway or sensor), set the alert source (all devices, specific tags, or specific devices), and alert schedule window. To configure a Schedule for the alert, enable or disable time periods during which Samsara raises alerts.

New Multi-camera NVR Disconnected

Alert when a multi-camera NVR is disconnected.

To set a New Multi-camera NVR Disconnected alert, set the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags).

GPS Signal Loss

Alert when a VG does not receive any GPS data.

To set a GPS Signal Loss alert, configure the signal loss time (minimum threshold of 20 minutes), define the alert for all geofences or for Risk Zone geofences only, and set the alert source (all Vehicle Gateways, specific tags, or specific Vehicle Gateways). Gateway Disconnected

Duration-based alert for gateway connectivity.

To set a Gateway Disconnected alert, specify the duration after which you want to raise an alert (either 15 minutes or 60 minutes) and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Gateway Unplugged

Duration-based alert for when a Vehicle Gateway is unplugged from its vehicle.

To set a Gateway Unplugged alert, specify the alert time threshold and set the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Vehicle DPF Indicator Lamp

Alert when a DPF indicator lamp LED displays one of the following statuses:

Asset starts moving

Duration-based alert for when an asset starts moving.

Asset stops moving

Geofence

Alert when an asset interacts with a geofence in one of the following ways:

Unpowered Asset Movement

Set the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags) and an optional alert schedule.

DEF Level

Alert when the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) level reaches a specific volume threshold.

To set a DEF Level alert, specify the level as a percentage, and an optional duration during which the level must hold. You can also set the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

DVIR Defect

Alert when a DVIR defect is created.

To set a DVIR Defect alert, set the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags).

DVIR Submitted

Alert when a DVIR of the selected type is submitted:

Engine Idle

Alert when the engine idles for a specified period of time.

To set a Engine Idle alert, specify the duration of time after which an alert is raised and set the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Engine On/Off

Alert when the engine is on or off for a period of time. This alert can help provide visibility when a vehicle is not in use or used for at an unintended time.

To set an Engine On/Off alert, specify the condition, duration, and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Equipment

Alert when there isn't any auxiliary equipment connected to a vehicle.

To set an Equipment alert, specify the vehicle, set an optional time threshold during which the condition must hold, and optional alert schedule.

Equipment Battery Voltage

v 1.0

Alert if battery level falls below a specified voltage across your powered equipment. Efficiently investigate assets and leverage data to better plan maintenance/parts purchasing/new asset procurement.

To set an Equipment Battery Voltage alert, set the voltage threshold, the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags), optional duration for which the voltage must remain below the threshold, and an optional alert schedule.

Fuel Level

Alert when the fuel level falls below or exceeds a specified threshold.

To set a Fuel Level alert, specify the condition, duration for which the level holds at the condition, and the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags).

Scheduled Maintenance

Alert when scheduled maintenance is performed. For example, if you have scheduled maintenance to check the odometer, you can alert with the activity is logged.

Alerts with multiple preventative maintenance conditions on schedules are currently not supported.

To set a Scheduled Maintenance alert, select the activity and an optional alert schedule.

State of Charge

Alert when an electric vehicle's battery charge level increases or decreases by a specified value.

To set a State of Change alert, set the percentage of change you want to monitor, the duration for which the condition must hold, and the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags).

Tire Fault Code

Alert when a third-party service reports a tire fault code.

To set a Tire Fault Code alert, choose the alert provider, one or more specific fault codes, and the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags).

Vehicle Battery Voltage

Alert when battery voltage is above or below a specified threshold.

To set a Vehicle Battery Voltage alert, set the voltage condition, the duration for which the condition must hold, and the alert source (all vehicles, specific tags, or specific vehicles).

Vehicle Fault Code

Alert when a vehicle fault code is reported.

To set a Vehicle Fault Code alert, choose one or more code categories or specific fault codes, the duration for which the condition must hold, and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Vehicle Fuel Level Dramatic Decrease

Alert if fuel level decreases by a specified percentage over a specified period of time.

To set a Vehicle Fuel Level Dramatic Decrease alert, set the percentage and time period for the change, the duration of time for which the condition must hold, and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Document Submitted

Alert when a driver submits a document.

To set a Document Submitted alert, choose the type of document submission (All Templates, or a specific template such as bill of lading, citation, or fuel receipt), and set the alert source (all drivers, specific drivers, or specific tags).

Driver App Sign In/Out

Alert when a driver signs into or out of the Samsara Driver App.

To set the Driver App Sign In/Out alert, choose the condition and set the alert source (all drivers, specific drivers, or specific tags).

Driver Message

Alert when a driver sends or receives a message.

To set a Driver Message alert, choose the condition and the alert source (all drivers, specific drivers, or specific tags).

HOS Violation

v 2.0

Alert when a driver is nearing an Hours of Service (HOS) violation.

To set an HOS Violation alert, set the time remaining before a violation occurs (0 - 60 minutes), select the violation type (for example, missed rest break, shift driving limit, shift duty limit, cycle limit), and set the alert source (all drivers, specific drivers, or specific tags).

Unassigned Driving

Alert if the vehicle moves without an assigned driver. Use this alert for drivers who normally use the Samsara Driver App.

To set an Unassigned Driving alert, set the time threshold and alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Unassigned Driving (Tachograph)

Alert if the vehicle moves without an assigned driver detected via vehicle tachograph readings.

To set an Unassigned Driving (Tachograph) alert, configure the conditions and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Out of Route

Alert when a vehicle deviates from a planned route.

To set an Out of Route alert, define a buffer distance, duration of time for the deviation, and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Route Stop Arrival

Alert when vehicle is a set time away from arriving at route stop.

To set a Route Stop Arrival alert, specify the location (geofence, tag, or address), and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

You can optionally Include Live Sharing Link in the alert notification for recipients to track the vehicle's location.

You can also opt to only send alerts for a driver's immediate next stop by selecting Alert En Route Stops Only.

Panic Button

Alert when Panic Button activity is detected.

To set a Panic Button alert, you choose the activity for which you want to receive alerts (either when the Panic Button is pressed or when the Panic Button loses connection) and the alert source (all vehicles, specific vehicles, or specific tags).

Humidity

Alert when humidity is outside of acceptable set conditions.

To set a Humidity Reefer alert, choose the event (rises above, falls below), set the humidity % to observe, set the alert source (all humidity sensors, specific tags, or specific humidity sensors), alert time threshold in minutes, and alert schedule window. To configure a Schedule for the alert, enable or disable time periods during which Samsara raises alerts.

Reefer Alarm

Alert when an alarm is triggered on your reefer. You can read and clear alarms on your reefer unit from your dashboard. Reefer alarms are color-coded and fall into one of the following categories:

Reefer Temperature

Alert when the temperature inside the reefer container exceeds limits.

Temperature Unexpected

Alert when temperatures are outside of acceptable set conditions.

To set a Temperature alert, choose the set of conditions for the alert (ambient or probe) and the event (rises above, falls below, is inside range, or is outside range), set the temperature threshold, set the alert source (all temperature sensors, specific tags, or specific temperature sensors), alert time threshold in minutes, and alert schedule window. To configure a Schedule for the alert, enable or disable time periods during which Samsara raises alerts.

Door Open

Alert when a door is open outside of an unknown geofence (for example when a door would be expected to be open in a loading zone, but not on the road or in a parking lot).

To create a Door Open alert, set the alert source (specific tags, specific door sensors, or all door sensors).
