If your fleet has vehicles that do not require an ELD under applicable regulations, these vehicles may be eligible for Unregulated Vehicle mode.
After you assign Unregulated Vehicle mode to eligible vehicle, ELD functionality and Samsara Driver App auto-duty status is disabled for that vehicle. The Driver Log will indicate On Duty
while the vehicle is in motion and unassigned segments do not generate in the Unassigned HOS Report. However, the driver can still manually select a duty status within the Samsara Driver App.
Unassigned driving alerts trigger regardless of the Vehicle Regulation Mode. To disable this alert for a vehicle, remove the vehicle from the alert configuration.
To configure the Vehicle Regulation Mode, select the mode from the vehicle settings or use the following workflow:
-
From Fleet Overview ( ) > Assets > Vehicles, locate or search for the vehicle from the vehicle list.
-
Confirm that the vehicle has not been driving for at least 5 minutes to allow the last regulated trip segment to be processed through Auto-Duty (for more information, see Automatically Update Driver Status (Auto-Duty)).
-
Click the more actions menu ( ... ) > Settings.
-
Locate the Vehicle Regulation Mode and select the mode (Regulated or Unregulated (non-CMV).
-
Save to confirm the setting.
