Customers can now easily assign drivers to unassigned safety events in the Safety Inbox or through the Trip History page. Additionally, customers using static vehicle assignment can now edit the driver to ensure the correct driver is associated with the event.
Manually Assigning a Driver to a Harsh Event
To reach the Safety Inbox, navigate to the Dashboard and click on Fleet > Reports > Safety Inbox. If you select a harsh event that doesn’t have a driver assigned through Samsara Driver App or key fob, or static vehicle assignment, you will see a link to Assign.
Click the Assign link next to Unassigned.
A pop-up window will appear allowing you to select the Driver who you would like to assign to the harsh event and corresponding trip. Be sure to save your selection.
Full admins or custom roles with Edit access to the Safety Inbox have the permission to assign drivers via manual assignment.
Manually Assigning a Driver on the Trip History page
Full admins can also assign drivers to trips using the Trip History page. There will be an "Assign" button for unassigned trips.
After a Driver is Manually Assigned
The driver's information will propagate to all corresponding trip information, including:
- Other harsh events from the trip in the Safety Inbox
- Safety Report and Driver Safety Score, which will be calculated with the trip information
- Trip History page
- Video retrievals
- Vehicle show pages (which will show the trip history for the vehicle)
- Fuel usage report
- IFTA Report
- And more.
The lag time between assignment and propagating the driver to all trip info can take up to 2 minutes. If you would like to inquire further about the ability to manually assign a Driver to a harsh event feature, please reach out to email@example.com.
