This article will explain how to configure your VS2 device to be used on wifi/ ethernet as well as suggested bandwidth and network requirements to successfully use your VS2.
Note: please use Google Chrome for optimal results.
Internet connection configuration:
Ethernet - you can plug in an ethernet connection directly to your Samsara VS2 to connect it. Ensure that your connection does not have a splash page otherwise, it will not be able to connect.
Wifi - WIFI credentials can only get passed to the device if it is already connected to the internet in some fashion (ethernet or a pre-existing wifi network). To ensure that the device is pre-configured with your wifi network, you can provide your credentials to your Samsara Sales Engineer to configure in advance OR connect to ethernet and then add in the wifi credentials.
1) Navigate to your "General" page on the left pane to find Organization Settings. In the bottom right of this page click "Add a Wi-Fi Network"
2) Choose your encryption type if necessary and enter in the passphrase and hit save.
(Additionally, we cannot support wifi with a splash page at this time. If you need support for Static IP, please reach out to your Samsara Sales Engineer.)
Bandwidth & Network Requirements
We recommend that your connection be at a minimum of 5MBPS upload/download to be able to support our system. If you have multiple devices please have a conversation with your Samsara Sales Engineer on what would be appropriate to support your deployment.
USB cable - A 5ft USB cable is included for camera to controller connectivity. Note that this is a high-performance cable specially designed for Samsara Machine Vision. For optimal performance, we do not recommend using other USB cables. Please factor in cable length when considering installation options.
