Label an event as "Needs Coaching" to add it to a new coaching workflow available in the Samsara dashboard.
Pull up any harsh event under Fleet > Reports > Safety Inbox, then scroll down to the harsh event summary and change its status to "Needs Coaching."
Labeling as "Needs Coaching" will add that event to the Coaching page, under Fleet > Reports > Coaching.
The coaching page is organized by Driver. The Driver view ranks drivers by the quantity of their harsh events that are in "Needs Coaching " status, and also shows their safety score.
Click on a driver to open their Safety Report, and click Coach Driver to begin the coaching workflow.
This will pull up the first of their coachable events.
Here you can scroll down to utilize provided talk tracks to help with your coaching, and click Mark as Coached when you're finished. When you click "Mark as Coached," you will automatically be saved as the Safety Manager.
You can also click the Right or Left arrows at the top-right of your screen to scroll between harsh events.
Marking as "Coached" will remove this harsh event from your Coaching to-do list.
Click Complete Coaching at the top-right of this screen when you've finished addressing this driver's harsh events for the time.
You can always find a coached event at a later time by searching your Safety Inbox under Fleet > Reports > Safety Inbox. The "Status" column will help you see an overview of what events needs coaching, or have been coached already.
