We know that your video footage is crucial. Before you switch or upgrade your vehicle gateway (VG), review the following recommendations to retrieve all video footage on your current cameras.
-
Because moving cameras between VGs can cause lost footage, retrieve all important video footage before moving a camera.
Driving footage captured by a Samsara dash cam is associated with a specific vehicle and its VG. When a camera is moved from one VG to another, it automatically clears historical footage that has not already been uploaded to your Samsara dashboard.
Therefore, before moving a camera between VGs, make any and all video retrieval requests you may need from the 24-100 hours of stored drive time prior to removing the camera.
-
If your vehicle has been involved in a crash, do not move the camera to a new vehicle gateway.
If your vehicle or vehicle gateway was damaged due to a crash event, please contact Samsara Support. Plugging the camera into a different gateway will clear the footage and you will not be able to retrieve any prior video footage from it.
If you need to retrieve footage from a dash camera and no longer have access to the VG or have questions about anything else not covered here, please contact Samsara Support.
