Drivers who frequently cross US-Canada and the 60N parallel in Canada can now preview their compliance with regulations before they cross the border.
Preview HOS Compliance From US-Canada
Samsara's HOS system automatically transitions a driver's ruleset and HOS notifications between US and Canada based on their vehicle's location.
When a driver is entering a new jurisdiction, for example from Canada to the US, they may need to preview their compliance with the US 11-hour rule first to avoid problems (vs. the Canadian 13 hour driving rule).
Using the Border Check feature, drivers can detect violation risks early and plan their day by selecting a different ruleset in the app.
Enabling Border Check
For customers enrolled in Samsara's Canada HOS Beta, drivers can immediately access the Border Check menu from the HOS > Settings Screen. In this menu, the driver can select the jurisdiction to preview and will see the updates after returning to the Home screen and back to the HOS screen.
Steps to follow:
- Navigate to the HOS > Settings screen
- Select the Border Check menu
- Select a preview ruleset (US, Canada South, Canada North), then choose "Save"
- Return to the HOS screen
- Return to the Home screen
- Open the HOS screen to see the ruleset updated
