The AG41 Asset IoT gateway can be installed in a variety of unpowered assets and equipment, such as roll-off bins, intermodal containers, portable toilets, and field assets. The AG41 can also be installed on powered equipment, though it is recommended to use the AG24 with a Power Cable in these instances.
The AG41 can be installed in two easy steps:
- Mount the AG41 to the asset using self-tapping screws or very-high-bond tape (both included with the device). Zip ties or mounting bolts can also be used.
- Screw in the end cap to activate the device.
The AG41 can be mounted in several covert locations, such as behind an outside ledge or under the body of the asset. For more information on installation, see the AG41 install guide: https://www.samsara.com/pdf/docs/ag41-install-guide.pdf.
To add the device to your organization, navigate to cloud.samsara.com/activate and enter your AG41 serial number. This AG41 should then be linked to your Samsara Cloud Dashboard and will display location information once successfully activated and connected.
Once activated, the AG41 will conduct a check-in with the Samsara Cloud Dashboard every 12 hours.
The AG41 Asset IoT Gateway has an internal battery that can last up to 2 years in optimal conditions. The following tips can help ensure battery longevity in an AG41.
- Avoid storing the asset in areas without GPS reception, such as metal sheds or multi-story warehouses.
- If the device is not in use (such as devices on seasonal assets), remove the end cap to disable connectivity.
Protect the battery from extreme cold or heat, and never expose the device to temperatures above 176° Fahrenheit (80° Celsius) or below -40° Fahrenheit (-40° Celsius).
