How do Vehicle Gateways save power?

Vehicle gateways (VG) use power modes to save energy and extend battery life.

If your vehicle is turned off and the VG doesn’t move for one hour, the VG will begin sleep mode, during which it will intermittently stream location and sensor data to the Samsara Cloud.

The VG awakens when it detects motion, the vehicle’s engine turns on, a device connects to the built-in WiFi Hotspot, or the VG is sent a software upgrade.
