Lesson 1: Introducing Samsara

The Samsara ecosystem consists of three interconnected devices working together to bring you visibility into the physical world.

Sensors

Samsara's sensors collect data about the environment, either directly in the case of our EM Temperature and Humidity sensors, or via connected industrial sensors in the case of our IM Input Modules.  This data is automatically streamed wirelessly through a Samsara Gateway to the Samsara Cloud. If a wireless connection is interrupted, data is automatically logged on sensors and/or gateways for instant uploading as soon as is possible.

Gateways

Samsara Gateways collect, store and upload Sensor data to the Samsara Cloud.  Gateways may also collect location data, vehicle operating parameters and diagnostic trouble codes.  The collected data can be stored for up to 30 days and is securely uploaded to the Samsara Cloud via Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n) or cellular.

Samsara Cloud

The Samsara Cloud stores and displays your sensor data with an easy to use and powerful web interface. Visually view real-time or historical data, create reports, configure alerts, etc.  Your data is stored indefinitely, with no quantity limits.
