Some forms are designed to include a person (such as a worker or admin), or inspect assets (such as vehicles, trailers, or equipment). When you create a form you can add a Person field through the Person answer type, or an Asset field option through the Asset answer type. This enables the worker to link that form and any related issues directly to a person or an asset in Samsara.
If you select the Asset answer type, it enables workers to connect an asset to a form through an Asset field. For example, if a worker needs to fill out an Accident Report form, a worker would be able to connect the associated asset involved in the accident through an asset field in the form.
Based on how you configure the field for what asset types can be selected, Connected Workflows pulls the list of assets by name from the Assets Summary (Overview ( ) > Assets) in your Samsara dashboard.
When the worker selects this field in the form, it displays the asset types you selected for a worker to choose from. If the worker is offline or cannot find the asset in the list they can also manually type in the asset name.
If a worker adds an asset manually, it will not add a new asset entry into your Samsara dashboard asset list. To manage your assets individually or in bulk, see Manage Your Gateways.
From the Samsara dashboard you can access your Issues Inbox and filter issues by asset number to view all the issues associated with that asset number. This helps you gain visibility into the status of an asset's previously submitted open issues, and can reduce duplicate issues.

When the worker selects their field in the form, it displays the people in the roles you selected for a worker to choose from. If the worker is offline or cannot find the person in the list, they can also manually type in the person's name.
If the worker adds a person's name manually, it will not add a new user to your Samsara dashboard.
