Your Samsara Vehicle Gateway pulls the odometer value automatically from the vehicle engine control unit (ECU) and displays it on your vehicle settings. However, if the odometer value it is not pulled automatically and is not a regulated vehicle, you can input the odometer value manually.

Manual entry for odometer readings is for maintenance purposes only. Odometer readings that are set manually will update as GPS trip data is gathered.
Before attempting to enter an odometer reading, determine whether your vehicle allows manual updates:

Regulated Vehicles (ELD Compliant): If your vehicle is a regulated vehicle and is required to be ELD compliant, the vehicle odometer may not be adjustable. The Engine Control Module (ECM) reports the official reading, which must be used. See FMCSA Requirements for ELDs for details.

Unregulated Vehicles: If the odometer value is not pulled automatically and the vehicle is not regulated, you can enter the mileage manually.
If your vehicle’s odometer is not updating automatically, contact Samsara Support for assistance.
Manually set the odometer reading on a vehicle:

From the Samsara dashboard, select Overview (
) > Assets > Vehicles.

Locate the vehicle from the Vehicles list or Search vehicles to narrow the scope of the results.

Select the more actions ( ••• ) menu > Settings.

Locate the Odometer settings and click Edit. If you cannot edit the odometer value, confirm the vehicle is eligible for manual odometer readings (see Eligibility for Manual Odometer Updates.

Enter the mileage for the vehicle and Save to apply the changes.
The new odometer value displays on the asset details and will automatically update as GPS trip data is collected.
